The Fault In Our Stars

As a fellow Nerdfighter and also a Tumblr fanatic I of course had to read this book.
~Summary~
A 16 year old lung cancer patient named Hazel Grace, or just Hazel is forced by her "means well" parents to attend a support group meeting though all she wants to do is just watch America's Next Top Model. When she gets there she mets this "long and leanly muscular" guy around her age and let's just say he was "hot". His name is Augustus Waters who is a cancer surviver and leg ampute. Afterward the meeting she goes over to his house and they basically hit it off! The story progresses as the two get closer as friends and also as a team to help out their friend Isaac who is also a cancer patient and is soon to be blind. The two connect very well with a book Hazel loves called "An Imperial Affliction" which somewhat non existant ending leads them to an adventure to find what happens. And of course the battles with cancer.

Quick review:
I love this book very much. It has a good pace to the story, never a dull moment. It is beautifully written and flows very well. Has very funny moments where you will actually laugh aloud and also I did cry while reading this book. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. If you want something fun but at the same time serious then this is for you!

I personally connect with this book very much. I have had many family members leave this world due to cancer or health issues from a very young age. I love this story very much! It is a personal story to me. This book has its cutest moments and tearfully sad moments but, that is what I love about this book. Now I don't want to put any spoilers in this review BUT I HAVE TO! I just can't review it without spoiling anything! First of I would love to find myself a Gus Waters! He seems like the type of guy I like, and I don't care at all if he had an amputated leg! I really hate Isaac's girlfriend I mean okay I get that you don't really wanna take care of a boy who will soon be blind but seriously you were kinda a bitch about it and I am glad they didn't really talk about her much and add a story to her so you can really have an opinion about it. With Isaac and his girlfriend they had a saying "Always" meaning they would always be together. I absolutely love Hazel and Gus's "always" as "Okay" just thought that was just the cutest thing on the planet! Also said in a very subtle way!
"Okay," he said after forever. "Maybe okay will be our always." "Okay," I said.
I also completely understand Hazel when she said she didn't want to be a gerande to Gus even though in the end it was Gus who died. I was really upset with the fact that Gus's cancer got back and he was in a really bad condition and then died. I thought that is would have been Hazel! Oh and when they went to Amsterdam! That was one of the most romantic things that could have happened! Gus is such a gentleman! Sharing his wish with her! Or should I say he just got to be with his wish when they went to see the author! OMG He is such a doucheface! I really didn't like Van Houten! Seriously he is one of those people that you might know or what encountered with and just hate with a passion! He reminds me of the trolls on the internet hahaha. Oh well... I could just imagine their date at Oranjee. I love how they describe champagne as being stars. So romantic! It was just perfect and how they actually got to have sex. To be honest I cried almost all through out the last 100 pages! Once Gus told Hazel that his cancer was back and worse I had tears.
"I'm on a roller coaster that only goes up," he said "And it is my privilege and my responsibility to ride all the way up with you," I said. "Would it be absolutely ludicrous to try to make out?" "There is no try," I said. "There is only do."
I think around the time that Gus had to take chemo and where he just got worse and worse I really started to bawl out my eyes!
"The world is not a wish-granting factory."
Well I don't know what else to say really except for the fact that I was just in tears reading how Gus just gets worse and worse... It was really horrible mostly because I saw in real life how someone could go to totally fine to their death bed. It really hit me when he was in the hospital and all Hazel could do is just sit and wait to see what the next day brings. For me it was my father who passed away. I was 12 and he also had really bad lung which had fluid build up and finally he got surgery to "help" but honestly he just got worse and worse and after 2 months in ICU his body just gave up and shut down. So I know exactly how it felt to see someone you love just get worse and worse till finally they were gone. Also the pain of not being able to help them in any way. I think one of my favourite chapters of this book and also when I had serious tears was the end of chapter 20 where Isaac and Hazel were reading their eulogy to Gus. I love this specific quote from Hazel and her eulogy.
"Some infinities are bigger than other infinities. A writer we used to like taught us that. There are days, many of them when I resent the size of my unbound set. I want more numbers for Augustus Waters than hes got. But, Gus, my love, I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity."
This book was beautifully written with a language flow I haven't read before. Mind you this is the first John Green book I have read. I am very excited to read the rest of his works. But this book touched me very close to my heart and I think the last pages of this book and the last letter from Gus just broke my heart.
"I got my wish, I suppose. I left my scar."
I know this feeling oh too well. Scars from family or boys. But this book is honestly a great read and very touching. If you are one to cry in books, you will cry for sure in this book. I would give this a 5/5. I am sorry this is so scatter everywhere. I haven't written a proper report in a very long time! Hopefully I will improve soon enough as I finish my books for this summer!
